Labor Day weekend recap….

Stayed up too late Friday, slept late on Saturday. I’m happy to say I did go to church Saturday evening. Vegetated all day Sunday and went to bed early. Today I finished reading Unleash Your Buddha Nature which is a good intro, sort of a Buddhism 101. Good book, I enjoyed it and found it informative. I started another book Uncontrolling Love: Essays Exploring the Love of God, with introductions by Thomas Jay Oord.

Understanding Mormonism

The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Understanding Mormonism

So far this book only rates two stars. When comparing Mormon ideas with mainstream Christian ideas the Author is is greatly oversimplifying the Christian ideas. I don’t know a lot about Mormonism but I suspect he is over simplifying their ideas as well. I also found a factual error where he referred to Constantine as the “Holy Roman Empire” ! In actual fact the Holy Roman Empire did not exist at the time of Constantine, it came much later and was located mostly in modern day Germany. Criticism aside, the book is interesting, very readable and I do intend to finish it.
