a foray into the dark side…

This afternoon I decided to check my Verizon bill. Earlier this month I had paid them $600.00 so I figured the bill now would be rather small. It wasn’t, according to the web-site I owed $1,000.00 ! BALLS and HELL ! I called Sweetous and she told me to go raise a stink at the Verizon store. She told me she would have LB meet me there because she is better able to understand the arcane details of phone plans. I figured she would also be good back up because she is quite skillful at displays of wrathful fury. For her part, LB was hoping to coax me into buying her a new phone…

Fetal development – 19 weeks pregnant

Young Piglette (Princess 2.0) sent me that link to show how my grand baby is coming along.

For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed. How weighty to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! I try to count them—they are more than the sand; I come to the end*—I am still with you.

more political comments from the lurking chihuahua…

I’m not really very interested in politics. I am very interested in right and wrong; I find the endless posturing and scheming of politics to be a vexation to my soul ! I don’t really fit with the Democrats or the Republicans. Not with the Democrats because I am totally opposed to abortion, I favor a strong military, and I am not real thrilled with the idea of gay “marriage”; nor with the Republicans because I favor strict regulation of business (especially large corporations) and I am also in favor of government health care, aid to education, and in general an active role for government in society.

I despair for our country though ! I know people are not happy with President Bush, so there is a very strong possibility that either Obama or Hillary will be elected. If either of these sorry excuses are elected we are in very deep shit ! May God have mercy on our sorry asses !

some comments about Jeremiah Wright…

When my kids were growing up sometimes when they vexed me I would tell them to “go sit somewhere that I can’t see you or hear you”. Being a good bit older and hopefully somewhat wiser now; I will concede that I really ought not to have spoken to my kids that way. But when considering the “Rev.” Jeremiah Wright I would say that “go sit somewhere that I (and anyone else) can’t see you or hear you” is entirely appropriate. This man is bigoted, hateful, a buffoon, an ignorant fool, and last (but not least) a heretic. He should go into seclusion until he is ready to repent and rehabilitate himself !

some thoughts on the presidential candidates…

I got this from Smitty via Email. This is damned good !

I do not know who wrote this. The Obama and Hillary stuff has pretty much been around (and most of it, well deserved), But the McCain dissertation is incredible ! I don’t know who wrote it, but it is a classic! The following puts it all in perspective although it is a little rough.

After long and serious thought, I have decided to endorse Senator John McCain for President. ?I have always voted for the person and have not voted for anyone because some political party was telling me who I should vote for. ..

cute little gadget computer…

Amazon.com: Asus Eee PC 4G (7″ Screen, 800 MHz Intel Celeron Processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB Hard Drive, Linux Preloaded) Galaxy Black: Electronics

I saw one of these at Best Buy today; it had XP instead of Linux. It was quite a cute little gadget; I was especially impressed that it had a non-glossy screen ! That’s a pet peeve of mine, I utterly cannot stand glossy screens ! Of course 512 MB is not a lot of memory but for the price it is nice ! It had 3 (or 4 ?) USB ports, an ethernet port and or course wireless. I was tempted to buy one to keep around as a spare, but though better of it. What I want for my next computer is a MacBook Pro – with a non glossy screen of course !

waiting for the rain…

I am out on the porch taking it easy and surfing the web. Sweetous being the sly and resourceful woman that she is went prowling around in the Salvation Army Store today and bought an outdoor table with four chairs for $100.00. Not quite as nice as the $500.00 set we saw at Lowes, but a much better buy and certainly good enough. I will have to go inside soon because it is getting very windy and hazy; supposed to storm today. Earlier today I saw a lot of clouds, now no clouds but very hazy and getting cold.

thursday afternoon…

Just back from my lunchtime walk, so now I will do a bit of web surfing whil’st I also begin a new spreadsheet.

tuesday notes…

Today I was very busy at work, but really didn’t accomplish as much as I would have liked. We had a lunch for Heather’s birthday too. Well, hoping I’ll get more done tomorrow. On a positive note, I did get a 40 minute walk in this morning and I cut grass with my human powered mower for 60 minutes after work. Now, I am downright lame ! Oh well. Oh yeah, I did weigh myself yesterday and was down to 229 lbs., so it continues.

polygamy…

Star-Telegram.com: | 04/20/2008 | Sect has kicked out some 2,000 teen boys – I’m strong believer in freedom of religion and a “hands off” policy of government towards religious groups. Sometimes though, you just have to make exceptions; these polygamist fundamentalist sects need to be shut down ! I would even say that a case could be made tolerate polygamy on a limited scale voluntarily amongst adults, but that’s not what we have here.

As for a proper Christian marriage; some people argue that the Old Testament Patriarchs practiced polygamy therefore polygamy is OK. However in the Creation Story in the Bible (Genesis 2:18-25) we can see that God made only one woman for Adam ! On a related matter, we can see that God did not make another man for Adam, he made a woman ! So, I figure that should settle the matter.

the deluge continues, sort of…

Yesterday all day it rained; a deluge of near biblical proportions ! To say it rained “cats and dogs” would be an understatement, it rained “bobcats and pitbulls” would be a better description. Driving to work this morning the torrent continued, but when I arrived at work it was only raining lightly. So I decided to go walking; but I only walked 5 minutes and it started again ! So I turned around and returned to the office. Perhaps at lunch time I can go walking again.
