busy day and some links…

It’s a busy day at work but I  did get a walk in before work and at lunch time.

some links….

Animal pics « lurking chihuahua – I added a page of really cool animal pictures from my email.

NPR Music: New Music, Songs and Music News – a good site for listening.

Design Observer – a nicely designed site about design.

A busy day

A busy day; up early to goto church and then we took the dogs walking in the park. So we all got some exercise today. When we finished the walk Sweetous went shopping with LB and I went to Wal-Mart to buy bottled waters. Now I am in the process of reinstalling XP on Mike’s computer; hoping that it will stay working once I do that.

I like to try out new software and such on the web. Here are my most recent ones: Plaxo, a social networking site similar to MySpace, but better IMHO and Tumblr, a really cool minimalist blogging set-up. Of course I opened an account for both of them: random notes and linkage… and Dennis Reasinger’s Public Profile

on the front porch watching the rain

I’m on the front porch watching the rain. It rained earlier today while I was in BN in Frederick and now it’s raining some more. Sweetous had called me to go bike riding when I was at BN, so I drove home and we went riding in the park. I was concerned that I was too tired from staying up late last night, but I did fine. It was a good ride. After our ride I went back to Frederick to Borders for a while Now, I really am tired and home for the rest of the evening…

We had our Bible study small group…

We had our Bible study small group last night and it was past  10:00 when I went to bed ! So, I am tired  and Sweetous wants to ride bikes this afternoon. I’m also very busy at work today and this past week. So, I’m not sure how well I will do riding bike today; we shall see. It seems to me that getting enough sleep is much more important now than it was; say 5 years ago. I guess that’s part of the getting old process…

vintage television…

YouTube – Red Skelton’s Pledge of Allegiance – This is pretty cool, I had nearly forgotten about Red Skelton ! I remember watching him on TV when I was a little kid. Read some related linkage: Golden Age of Television – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, and here.

notes…

I’ve been very busy all day at work although I’ve not made much progress with my planned agenda ’cause I keep getting these urgent hit and run tasks. Actually one of them took most of the morning. I did go walking before work and at lunch time though and my plan is to leave promptly at 3:00 to go bike riding with Sweetous.

Been too busy today to see much on the web but I did want to make a quick note of this book listing site that I’ve never been to before: Shelfari is the premier social network for people who love books. I may get an account for that so I can check it out more. LOL as if I didn’t already have enough stuff on the web !

sunday recap….

I’m out on the porch sitting watching a storm come in; looks like it will be a while though. So I’ll sit out here and read a while. It’s been a busy weekend with a grocery run to Wal-Mart Friday evening and bike rides over an hour for both yesterday and today. We also went to church this morning; been a while. I shall have to try and do better with that.

article about the cognitive effects of the internet…

http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200807/google

I just read this article and wanted to make sure I bookmarked it. The article describes the cognitive effects of widespread internet use. The author is not a Luddite; he points out positive as well as negative aspects of the web. He also traces how other changes in the media affected thought processes; such as the introduction of the printing press. I have noticed many of the effects described in my own thought and behavior…

Down 3 lbs…

I checked my weight this morning: 217 lbs. Down 3 lbs from last time for a total loss of 24 lbs since March 25th ! I’m pleased that I am continuing to losse, but it is a slow process. Of course, it is really a life long project; without constant vigilance it will come back and I certainly don’t want that !

email and PIM’s

I’m a big fan of all things Google, especially gmail. But here is another good PIM suite on the web: GMX – Free E-Mail – Webmail & POP3, IMAP. I nearly forgot I had this but they sent me an update in my gmail today. This has a very nice looking interface and runs fairly fast too. For sure it’s better than Hotmail !

weekend road trip…

I’ve been neglectful of my blog ! We did a road trip this past weekend to visit my Parents; drove my Ma around to yard sales most of Saturday. I was impressed with her; like the Energizer Bunny she just kept going and going. I think it’s funny the way women (Sweetous is the same way) will search amongst all that junk looking for a good buy. Most of the stuff  in yard sales does not interest me to either buy or sell; I would either throw it out or give it away. But, they do find some good stuff (as well as some not so good). Sweetous showed me a nice jacket which I bought for $1.00 !
